Healthcare is Worth Paying For

Insurance is not meant to remove risk, it is meant to manage risk. Risk-taking is what has made the USA great; but if it doesn't work out, the fault is your own and no one else should be required to take that consequence away. People like family members and neighbors can and should help, but it is really up to the individual in most cases to deal with the consequences which usually include some sacrifice. Imagine if State Farm has a new rule. Everyone who gets in a car accident in the morning can now get a policy in the afternoon and require State Farm to pay for a new car. It is not right. It is not what insurance is meant to do. It is the persons responsibility to get insurance before the accident and to find new insurance before relinquishing the old. This is a personal responsibility. If a person thinks they will never get sick; and then they do, should you have to pay for it? No, the person should have to pay, and the consequence might be difficult to bear. That is the consequence of freedom, and that person chose wrong.

Before we continue down this road that leads to government control of everything we do, let's stop to consider why we are here. Barney Frank and others propped up Fanny and Freddie to allow people who couldn't afford their mortgages to get mortgages. What type of effect did that have on the economy. Well, the source of the freefall in our economy was two-fold. On one hand we had the greed of the lower and middle class people who wanted to live in a home they couldn't afford. We also had people in Washington who felt bad that some people have to rent, so they tried to make it a human right to own a home. This led to loads of people who (if you tell it right) lied to mortgage companies embellishing their (in)ability to pay a mortgage and then lying again by not paying the bill they promised to pay. Loads of people started to buy into this lie. They actually believed the American public which promised to pay their bills. They thought that they could make a lot of money by selling these loans and insurance on these loans until the lie hit the fan. Whose fault is it? It is everyone who believed the lie and sold something that was too good to be true. But, it is even more so the fault of the liars who defaulted on their loans.

At some point you have to put the blame where the blame belongs. It belongs on the American people who played any role in not being honest. There was greed by the sellers, but even more by the buyers. That was (and unfortunately is) a lot of people. Certainly, some people fall on hard times and can't pay a loan. Those people then sell the house. But there were too many people who wanted to live outside of their ability to pay and then give that debt to America. This is what is happening now. People are saying they don't want to have responsibility for their own choices. They don't want to make choices and pay for their own healthcare and that of their families. So what happens now? That freedom to choose goes away. It is given away to the bureacracy which does not give any favor to integrity and hard work. Instead it favors those who can work but don't, and those who like things that are free. This slippery slope has been tried over and over in other countries with devastating effects. It leads to less and less freedom. Your values may not be honored by the government. Your religion may not be tolerated by the government. And your views may be marginalized and ridiculed and even violently opposed. We're just starting to see a glimmer of this in the culture. When you grab the tail of the rattlesnake you will soon enough get the head.

Marriage; embrace it as it is!

Marriage is and has always between a man and a woman for a reason. It is a common sense definition. This social experiment that attempts to redefine the family hurts everyone. Our life is a gift and a clear pattern has been given on how to live it happily. To prop up a deviant version of the pattern invites further deviation. Clearly there are emotional, spiritual, biological and other reasons for true marriage. Men and women are meant to be together; to learn from each other, to raise children together and to love one another. A man and a woman should raise children in what we all know is a family. New and perverted versions of this are only a mirage. You can say that red is green, but most people will still know it is really just red. Respect democracy! The people of California have voted. All laws are based on moral principles. We may disagree about right and wrong, but the majority has ruled. Respect Proposition 8! It is the law because most people wanted it to be. The strident minority can't always prevail by yelling the loudest. The people have spoken.

10 reasons why you shouldn't have voted for Obama

1. Obama wants to increase entitlements. Entitlements are mostly harmful to the economy and those who accept them (as they are currently administered).  They discourage industry and frugality.  I interact with a dental assistant (not mine) who won't work any more hours, not because she can't, but because if she does, she will lose her current benefits. Obama wants to increase entitlements.

2. Obama is still most likely friends with William Ayers. He has not said that he does not associate with Bill Ayers. He would have said that he does not (or will not) associate with him if he didn't anymore. The closest he came was saying that "Mr. Ayers will not advise me in the White House."  Where will he advise him then.  Obama likes William Ayers and would value his advice.

3.  Obama's long-time spiritual advisor is a radical "black liberation theology"  proponent and advocated for "Not God bless America, God damn America".  To assume that Obama was not influenced by this line of thinking is absurd.  Obama spent years as a student of Rev. Wrights vitriolic speeches and is most likely sympathetic.  Obama is (or at least was for a long time) a willful consumer of radical hate-speech and racism against "they", white people, I guess.

4.  Obama is a modern day Neville Chamberlain who at the dawn of World War II tried to make friends with Adolf Hitler, thinking that somehow a little chat might make him think to change his ways.  Obama wants to speak with foreign leaders (Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, Il etc.) face to face and soften their hearts.  He is afraid to use the word evil to describe what is evil.  Obama will try to appease our enemies which will humiliate us and could hurt us.

5.  Obama has never (as far as I know) mentioned that he would like to win in Iraq.  Saying that he would like to win in Iraq might give political capital to the republicans.  Politics take precedence over our country's future.

6.  Obama's patriotism is far from beyond reproach.  He won't wear a flag pin because people other than himself like the idea.   Why not just wear it?  It's a minor issue, but why insist so hard on being right about not doing something that at least seems patriotic.  Seriously, though, you really should salute the flag or put your hand over your heart when the National Anthem is playing.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwog6E08CFU  Has he put his hand over his heart on other occassions, yes.  But, if Hillary and Bill can do it why not you?  Just forgot I guess.  I don't think that this lack of respect for the symbol of America represents the character of a Commander-in-chief I am looking for.  He sees through a lens that ridicules people who supposedly, "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them."  I love my religion and challenge anyone to find fault with that.  What is his beef?  Because I have faith, does that mean that I have antipathy for people who aren't like me?  What kind of group is this?  Faith is good, Obama elevates the State as a solution to problems instead of religion.  It sound to me like he has antipathy for people who aren't like him!  Sen. Obama "loves" America through a distorted lens and only when it meets with his approval.

7.  Obama is an advocate for late-term "partial-birth " abortion.  He voted to not require a surviving baby of a botched abortion to receive medical care.  He will likely replace one or two Supreme Court Justices and will advocate for abortion in all cases.  He said in the debate that he would essentially have a litmus test on abortion.  He is a proponent of the radical gay agenda which seeks to redefine marriage.  For me marriage means a relationship between a man and a woman.  This is the only way it should be defined, period.

8.  Obama is inexperienced.  Obama does not have the experience, by Joe Biden's admission to be President.  He will shrink the military like Clinton did, forsaking "peace through strength" and "trust, but verify".  A new doctrine is emerging of concessions by us for no concessions by our enemies.

9.  Obama is a cultural icon, not a serious leader.  He is inebriated by his own celebrity.  If I have to choose based on who is on the extreme of each party, I would rather be with religious, gun-toting folks then people like Madonna who said she would kill Sarah Palin and compared McCain to Hitler.  Michael Moore calls Americans stupid when he is overseas.  Bill Maher is anti-God.  They support Obama.  These are serious issues that will determine our future culture.  Democrats are more often viscous slanderers.  When a democrat becomes president, Republicans rally around him (or her) as our president and don't go all around the world tearing her (or him) down.  Obama has written two books about himself.  Obama is an idol not a leader.

10.  The economy is in bad shape.  It is due in large part to greed; greed by investment-pushers and people living beyond their means.  It is largely due to the politics of trying to make home-ownership available to those who could not afford it.  Fannie May and Acorn both had close ties to Obama.  John McCain authored legistlation to regulate Fannie and Freddie in 2006.  Obama wants to raise taxes which could lead to a repeat of Herbert Hoover's failures during the onset of the Depression.  No Hoovervilles for me please.  Obama is on the far left of the liberal spectrum and has a voting record to prove it, in spite of how conciliatory he might seem.

BONUS
11.  John McCain is an advocate for controlling govenment spending and has a true record of reaching across the aisle to members of the other party, unlike Obama.  John McCain is a true American Hero.  He has suffered for our freedom and knows the value of it.  Vote for John McCain.  He will keep us free.
